Eat, Darling, Eat 

An Indian family sought opportunity in Great Britain, but maintaining their cultural heritage meant that Mum's delicious curries were thought to be "stinky."

It is an unusual and somewhat jarring experience to walk into a public place and not recognize one's own mother, who's undergone a makeover.

Mom whipped up a vile breakfast concoction, insistent that it was incomparably healthy. And toughing it out yielded a valuable fortitude in life.

Taking a stab at fancy food, but de-froufrouing it a bit, was a testament to Mom’s Appalachian ingenuity. What a shame she didn't recognize her unique gifts.
